Awards, Grants and Opportunities for Students

Competitions for Elementary and Middle School Students:
The Economics Poster Contest has students in grades 1-8 draw colorful posters illustrating one of 6 economics concepts. UIC-CEE contest top 24 winners are automatically submitted in the statewide poster contest. Posters are judged on the basis of correct economics content, originality, color, and suitability for potential inclusion in a calendar (statewide winners). The Stock Market Game™ program includes 3 contests for student teams. In The Stock Market Game™ program, students in grades 4-12 participate in teams and manage a simulated investment portfolio during ten to fifteen weeks of the school year. The teams with the highest portfolio values in their regional group at the end of the session win the first contest. The second contest "Cabrera Statewide Awards" celebrates the top elementary school team and the top high school team in the State of Illinois. The third contest, "Investwrite", is a teacher-designed writing competition created to reinforce students' critical thinking skills. Competitions for High School Students:
The Economics Challenge is a competition for teams of high school students in which they test their knowledge of economics. Econ Challenge is competitive and fun, and offers a chance to travel and meet with other students in an atmosphere where economic knowledge is tested, recognized and celebrated. The Fed Challenge is a competition where teams of high school students present analyses of the U.S. economy on the day of the competition to Federal Reserve economists and judges and make recommendations for U.S. monetary policy.
